FESTIVAL HONORARY AWARDS

This year, the festival’s “Honorary Award” will be given to veteran actors Şener Şen and Perran Kutman, and veteran director Osman Sınav, while makeup artist Derya Ergün will receive the “Cinema Labor Award” and the “Contribution To Turkish Cinema Award” will be given to Hüseyin Yeşil, the owner of Yeşil Movie Theatres in Malatya, and Cemal Okan, Fono Film’s chairman of the board.

FESTİVAL’S POSTER AND THEME

“DISTANT LANDS BECOME CLOSER THROUGH CINEMA”
THE CRANE BIRD

“Cinema is a form of art which overcomes impossibilities, differences and borders, and brings people together. That’s why we used the crane, a significant figure in Anatolian folk culture, the messenger of feelings, on the festival’s poster. The crane has been widely used in folk literature, from tales to sagas, folk songs to poems. The love of crane has passed down through the generations, and it holds a special place in Sufism, different beliefs and disciplines in Anatolia as well. Crane is also a migratory bird, and we define it as a symbol emphasizing the unifying power of cinema that brings people together around similar feelings,” Köçer said.
