Regulations and submission forms of 7th Malatya International Film Festival which will be held by Metropolitan Municipality of Malatya between 9-16 November 2017 are now available at “”.

Malatya International Film Festival will bring cinema enthusiasts together for the 7th time this year with innovations and surprises. This year’s competition categories are: National Feature Film Competition, International Feature Film Competition, National Short Film Competition, International Short Film Competition. Within the first “Malatya Film Production Support”, two feature films will be granted with production support.


Fiction, documentary and animation films are eligible for submission to the festival’s… which aims to bring together the audience and new and distinguished films every year, to encourage artistic film productions, and to make Turkish cinema even more significant at both national and international levels. Submissions will be accepted through festival’s official website until 17:00 on

15 September, Friday. The Best Film, will receive  the Crystal Apricot Award and a 100,000 TL of money prize.

Other award categories in National Feature Film Competition are:

Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematographer, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Film Editing, Best Art Direction, Fahri Kayahan Best Original Score, Kemal Sunal People’s Choice Award (Best Film), Special Jury Award (Best Film), Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Promising Actress, Best Promising Actor, Contribution to Turkish Cinema Award.


Festival Director Suat Köçer has announced at the press meeting that 10 films selected for the National Short film Competition final will be screened in DCP format at major theaters prior to feature film screenings  in the program. Therefore, the efforts and excitement of short film makers will reach a wide audience.

As of this year, International Short Film Competition will also be held at the festival. Another remarkable innovation of 7th Malatya International Film Festival is that three films will be awarded instead of one. Submissions will be accepted through the festival’s official website until 17:00 on 15 September, Friday. In this category, “Best Short Film” will be given the Crystal Apricot Award and 5,000 TL money prize. Second runner-up will be awarded with 3,000 TL, and third runner-up with 2,000 TL.


Within Malatya Film Production Support, another remarkable innovation of 7th Malatya International Film Festival which will be held by Metropolitan Municipality of Malatya, two films from different categories will be granted with Ertem Eğilmez Family Films Support and TRT Independent Film Support. Regulations, application dates and forms of Film Production Support will be available at festival’s official website soon.
